Winemakers Notes

We are overjoyed that the growing season has resulted in excellent grapes. Yields were more than predicted, and harvesting proceeded well. In half-ton Macro bins, the Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon underwent daily manual punchdowns throughout the fermentation process. The wine was released in February 2020 after spending 23 months aging in French oak.

Tasting Notes

The wine has robust blackberry fruit, espresso, and tobacco on the aroma. Dark cherry and blackberry aromas explode on the complex palate, which is also surrounded by earth and cigar box flavors. The wine opens with an exotic mix of black cherry, black currant and hints of herbs and warm spices. Before erupting into a wine that is broad and mouth-filling with gentle tannins, delicate and focused from beginning to the long lingering finish, blackberries and cherries tease the palate. Although intended for immediate consumption, this wine can age beautifully for up to ten years. This wine is best enjoyed after being decanted.
