Winemakers Notes
The Cabernet Franc grapes are over 25 years old and planted on loamy, gravel soils. The vines are east to west facing south and southwest towards the Atlantic Ocean, which is only 15 km away, allowing cooler afternoon breezes to keep the grapes protected from the hot South African sun. The grapes were fermented in half-ton Macro bins. Manual punch downs were done numerous times daily throughout fermentation. The wine was aged in French oak (66% new) for 22 months and bottled in February 2023.
Tasting Notes
On the nose hints of dark fruit, spice, red currants, vanilla. Bright, and balanced, and subtle oak. Full bodied wine of depth and a long silky finish. This wine is designed to drink upon release but can age gracefully for many years
Food Suggestions
Pair this wine with a beautiful steak, rack of lamb or a cheese plate.
